Entertainer Jennifer Lopez and Latin singer Marc Anthony have "decided to end our marriage," the couple said Friday in a statement.
"This was a very difficult decision," said the statement, which was released through Lopez's representative Mark Young. "We have come to amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved, and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."
The couple wed in 2004, in what was the third marriage for Lopez and the second for Anthony, who'd been married to former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres. The Bronx-born Lopez, who first rose to fame as a dancer and later became a celebrated singer and actress, gave birth to twins fathered by Anthony in 2008. Anthony is himself an award-winning singer, while Lopez released her seventh album this spring titled "Love?".
"Everything is great about my marriage," the "American Idol" host told Latina magazine early this year. "First and foremost, we love each other, truly love each other in a way that's very deep and meaningful, not in a superficial sort of way. There's a deep respect, admiration and love for each other."
The couple embarked on numerous professional partnerships as well, from singing duets to fashion lines at Kohl's department store. They also have been working together on a reality show called "Q' Viva! The Chosen," in which Lopez and Anthony travel around Latin America looking for talent. There was no immediate indication as to whether the end of their marriage would affect any of these ventures
