Milk Made had to ask director Crystal Moselle a few questions to find out.
Milk Made: What was the concept behind this video?
Crystal Moselle: I have been really obsessed with western films lately but wanted to take the seriousness out of it. So I worked the cliches to make it feel like a western but then sort of flipped it on its head added some camera tricks and took away their guns. No to violence!
MM: How were all the effects done?
CM: Most of the effects were done in camera. We wanted it to feel raw and fun, taking away the seriousness of it. But Paul Snyder was so much fun to work with and did an excellent job with the edit. Plus Aska and Farmer Dave did soundtrack which really brought it to life… also the DP was DAVID MYRICK and he ruled.
MM: Where was it shot?
CM: It was shot in this cool little ghost town in California called Pioneertown. It’s an actual town with its own zip code.
MM: What is your favorite spaghetti western?
CM: Its a toss up between “My Name is Nobody” and “Once Upon a Time in the West”.
MM: Who do you prefer John Wayne or Clint Eastwood?
CM: Clint Eastwood. I once saw him in Whole Foods and stalked him for 30 minutes. LOVE HIM.
MM: Do you ever want to do a feature western film?
CM: Most definitely! Instead of people I would like to use only cats and dogs… but that’s probably been done before :(
MM: What color jeans are you wearing right now?
CM: I’m wearing my PJ’s and they are pink
