The latest version you can get from iTunes is 3.1.3 which does support the App Store. Not sure why its saying its the most current release though, because anything 1.x is soooo old. I don't even think you have email on that.
1.1.3 added Mail.app and a few other missing apps to the touch (for $20).
It says your iPod is up to date because most touch users went from 1.1.4 to 2.0 (a $10 upgrade) while users who didn't want to pay got 1.1.5 shortly after the 2.0 upgrade (security fix I think).
Then the upgrade from 2.2.1 to 3.x was $10, so 1.1.5 is the latest fw for touch 1g users who never upgraded to 2.x.

hmm..., I was in college back then.
I was sleeping when the first plane crashed. One of my roomates woke me up and said something like "wake up dude, I think World War III has just begun" (talk about a surreal way to wake up). When I got up the news guy was talking about an attack on the pentagon.
Classes had been suspended that day (due to a a bad storm that had flooded some streets), so we stayed all day at home glued to the TV in complete shock and disbelief.

Rock on, I just downloaded that app. The advice I posted was intended to be platform independent, because not everyone is as lucky as us to be rockin' macs ;)
What are you talking about? Download an app? All that site does is encode your email address and gives you a javascript decoder. It has nothing to do with what platform you are on.

Nothing to do with the Air.... but Firefox 4.0 has a confirmed memory leak that will eventually choke your OS, unless you shut down FF frequently.
Not worth it IMO, until they get this fixed. There is also an issue with tabs and with startup remembering previous sessions.

iphone.org may never be used but the word Iphone and apple will be near the top of googles list. just like when apple used mammals.org to launch X/Darwin... they know what they are doing, well for the most part at least.

How much did you pay for it?
I ask as you can get an aluminum enclosure for about $12 from Rosewill that is far better than the one used on the Passport, and a Western Digital Scorpio Blue or Black, which are farrrrrr better drives in terms of reliability and speed. For $120, you can build a drive with a 750GB Scorpio Black, which IMO is the best HDD on the market that is reasonably priced, and many people here will testify to their quality and speed. Add 15-20 bucks and the enclosure can have FW as well as USB2. As much as I love WD, I HATE the Passports and have not been happy with their overall reliability.

No wifi issue on either my iPad 1 or 2
What band is your wifi? b? g? n?
What channel are you using?
Have you done a frequency traffic survey?
Have you tried changing the channel of your router?
Do you have a 2.4 GHz wireless telephone? Is it one of those "broad spectrum" phones that keeps scanning the various channels, using the one with the least traffic?
I apologize for my English :
It's a box with wifi MIMO 802.11 g and I have no problem with my Iphone 3GS.
So, I have to explain to you what I did.
Following these problems, I called Apple and finaly, after multiple tests, they agreed to change my iPad.
When I went to the Apple Store to exchange, I used the time waiting to do some tests with the application "speedtest". The results is that There was a bandwidth of 10 MB and Youtube has worked flawlessly on my Ipad, even in HD. Home, with a bandwidth of 2 MB video playback is impossible, while it works perfectly on a PC connected wirelessly.
The tests with "speedtest" revealed that the WiFi signal on the ipad was very unstable at the Apple Store (like home), except that, with a flow rate of 10 megabytes, the rise and fall of the signal are more easily unnoticed than with a connection of 2 MB. That, added to how YouTube manages bandwidth for videos causes this problems that can't be solved for people who have connection under 4 or 5 Mb. I said that I made tests with the old and the new iPad.
My conclusion is this: The IPAD has a bad wireless connection (you can check by running tests regularly and storing results, you will see by yourself) and it does not forgive when you read video with a bandwidth of less than 5 MB I think YouTube is well aware, since all this time, but they don't do nothing for that... And we? We paid for the stuff that works evil, it is our problem... What else ?
So I resigned myself...
I think the problem will be solved with a tablet that has a reliable and stable wireless connection, maybe a galaxy tab... I don't know...
In fact, I sell a Ipad1 if anyone cares? It is new, it has two months, I just change it ! You can contact me by private message ! :D

I was a junior in college. I woke up around 9:30, and when I went to my computer I had 2 IMs from friends. One said "Turn on the news" and the other said "Turn on your tv, big stuff happening." I turned it on in time to see footage of the towers getting hit, it just blew me the **** away. I was dating someone who worked for the Senate, and spent most of the day trying to get through to her, as well as my family in New Jersey to make sure everyone we knew were alright. I remember random things, like my friend Noah im'ing with friends in NYC and calling their parents since their phones were jammed....I can't believe it's been 4 years. It feels like it was both longer and shorter. It was burned into our national (and international) conciousness, but the time frame seems so small....

Why not just get a Bluray firewire external combo-drive, or superdrive? That way you can add Bluray capabilities to your mac. Just a thought.

It would be better if Apple concentrated on getting IPTC metadata stored in the picture file itself and made iPhoto aware that IPTC comments etc. actually existed. currently Mac OS X and iPhoto are somewhat retarded in their ability (i.e. inability) to handle this type of info.
I certainly would find that more useful than Google maps integration.

The simple answer is dont use photoshop Im afraid! It does a really poor job of consistent spacing and cornering.
You'd be far better using illustrator for this, or InDesign/QuarkXPress will manage clean and precise dotted/dashed lines too.
If you don't have access to those, and you must use PS, the only options you have is to play with the spacing under "Brush Tip Shape" in the big Brushes Palette, and you could also tweak the Angle Jitter setting under Shape Dynamics.
"Direction" will cause the orientation of the brushtip shape to follow the direction of the line you'rre drawing or the path you're stroking.
Good luck!

Hello. I ordered a iPad 2 from the Norwegian Apple Store at it's launch (25th of March). When I look at the estimated delivery time, it says that I will get it at 23rd of May.. WTF!? 2 Months? It said when I ordered it that it would take 2-3 weeks, not 2-3 months.. Is this normal? :(

How is your 3gs on its last leg? I have a 3g (look at that, no S) and it works just as well as the day I got it.
Why did iphone users think they are "entitled" to a new model every time one comes out?
I agree, your phone really shouldn't be on "its last leg" but they are allowed to feel entitled to a new one whenever they want.
